Swizz Beatz Announces Global Partnership with Reebok at Project, Las Vegas

The internet has already seen several pairs of The KAMIKAZE, the Swizz X Reebok collaboration, and are ready to start adding them to their collections! Yesterday Swizz Beatz made it official by announcing his global partnership with Reebok to put out The Kamikaze real soon. In this unique partnership, Swizz Beatz will actively engage with the brand on many levels, from developing various initiatives to working with product.  His first role will be as the curator of the Reestyle Collective. A group of artistic minds from across the globe, the ReestyleCollective will conceive and produce a wide range of creative content in the realms of dance, music, art and style - the communities in which both Swizz Beatz and Reebok Classics thrive. Swizz himself had on a pair of lilac, pink sequin, and red Kamikazes with a t-shirt adorning artist Basquiat whom he praises highly for his disctinctive art. No word yet on the official release of the Kamikaze so stay tuned!

Reebok Freestyle Year of the Rabbit "Bunny Pack"

Reebok has put together a pack of 5411s in honor of 2011 being the Year of the Rabbit.  The shoe comes in 4 colourways, each featuring fake fur on the ankle strap and upper.  They're affectionately being referred to as the "Bunny Pack",  and rightly so, the pastels scream Easter and spring. 

Personally, they remind me of my fave Easter treat: Cadbury Mini Eggs!  

 I do rep Freestyles but I can't get down with fake fur on my kicks.  Would you cop?

Valentine's Day Sneakers: Keep it or Scrap it?

Every year sneaker brands put out their own spin on valentine's day sneaker. You get the same old boring ass colorways which is pink and red and then they top it off with some wack hearts. Like these:




Then sneaker companies often release foolishness like this:



Now with sneakers like these being released every year, I say scrap the V-day releases. Sneaker companies would definitely cut their losses by doing so. But to all my fiends out there what do you think? Should sneaker companies keep it or scrap it?

Swizz Beatz X REEBOK - GRAPE JUICE!!!

OMG! Here is another colorway Swizzy put on twitter and he calls them GRAPE JUICE!!! Juicy indeed! Last month I posted his 1st 2 colorways of the collab with Reebok coming next year and so did many other blogs. If he brings the heat with the kicks like he does with the beats, this will be a problem!

Swizz Beatz X REEBOK?

Yes! In case you haven't heard yet, Swizzy is bringing new life to Reebok in 2011 with these! On twitter he has shown us 2 colorways. The one that stands out the most has a slate gray nubuck upper, white leather eyelets, dark gray leather panel, and white mesh or gortex. The sole is elevated and chunky in a light neon green, yet compliments the sneaker itself. I like what i see in the pics and can't wait for more hi res pics! What is your take on them? Reebok EasyTone Freestyle Hi Hybrid

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.  It did.

Reebok decided to fuse the legendary Freestyle with their EasyTone - which claims to tone your booty and thighs as you go about your business.  I'm generally a extremely positive-minded person who was raised with the "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say nothin' at all" mentality.  However, when it comes to particular issues such as animal cruelty, racism and wack kicks, I refuse to remain silent.  I think these are just awful.

Okay, well I'm actually feeling the gold and black zebra print and fur collar but they lose me with the EasyTone sole.  The hybrid is available in 3 colourways:

Reebok x Hello Kitty PT-20

With so many brands collaborating with Hello Kitty these days, we shouldn't have been surprised about the plush joints Fetti posted a couple weeks ago. Now, Reebok have released another HK sneaker: the PT-20 "International Travel Kitty".  Don't get it twisted, I've always loved Hello Kitty but I'm feeling like Reebok really needs to step their female sneaker game up. 

I'm all about Freestyles so I was glad to see the new MOB "Double Bubble".  I've heard some fiends are not feeling the extra bubble but like it or not, it's something new that hasn't been done before.  I  appreciate the design innovation.  Seeing sneaker brands doing the same designs and concepts is boring.  Does the female sneaker market really need another Hello Kitty sneaker?

But all collabs aside, where's Reebok's heat? I loved the World Tour collection but that was released 2 years ago. To quote Kanye, "Reebok, baby you need to drop some new things." Let's hope they're doing just that and working on something fresh for us. Without further ado, here are the new PT-20 designs. Not feelin' it. What do you think?

Hello Kitty X Reebok PT-20 Plush @ ATMOS Japan

Alot of ladies love Hello Kitty but I'm not sure if we love it this much! I'm not sure if they were trying to follow the "fur" trend going on this year with kicks, but I am not approving! Resembling a stuffed animal and placing an outrageously big bow on the side of the sneaker is such an insult to me as a female! I do not want these on my feet! DO YOU? Fortunately these are only at ATMOS Japan for now..no word on a US release.

Sister 2 Sister Footwear Design Seminar RECAP!!!

It was a great weekend in Boston! Nearly 20 females from NYC & Boston participated in this 1st ever, historic event! Ranging from girls still in HS & college, to customizers, & experienced designers, we all came together sharing our love of kicks & learned from some of the best female designers in the industry! Lori got together with D'Wayne Edwards of Jordan Brand, as well as top women designers from Sperry Top Sider, Reebok, Puma, Converse, and Nike to make this special event happen.

We started off with introductions & sketching what our vision of our very own sneakers would look like, and we couldn't use logos or similarities from existing brands. As a customizer I truly thought the process wasn't too tedious since I already design, but on already put together sneakers. I was wrong! My initial sketch had the shape of a griffey max and it really wasn't what I was aiming for. However, with some help from the designers, I was able to create a better form for the sneaker as well as details like piping, canvas and textured leather!

Each presentation was as unique as the participant behind it! We all took on a foreign task and came out on top!

Thank you to all of the designers who took their time out for us and shared priceless technique and tips! Welcome Sarah Sabino aka "S4" to our Boston team, and a very special extra thanks goes to you Lori for always representing & being a voice for the ladies!

Ok I know we are tired of the pinks, & purples, but these have a lil flair to them if you accessorize properly to me! Disco Inferno: Reebox X Uslu Airlines

Time to bust out that polyester suit and hit the dancefloor! Reebok has teamed up with Uslu Airlines to create the Reebok retro pop sneaker. Haven't been that thrilled with Reebok lately, but these make me feel otherwise. I can so see these on my feet, how about you all? Can you get down with disco?

Not gonna lie....I'm DROOLING all over my keyboard.  Check the latest Ex-O-Fit Hi Straps! Love the patent leather, love the straps, love the polka dot inner.

I've read people likening the design to the Yeezy but the colourway kinda reminds me of NERDS.
