I will be the first to admit I am a sucker for well-crafted, handmade goods that have a rich yet very vintage and rustic feel to them.  Draught Dry Goods seem to be a brand that's all about simplicity and style without the added fluff.  I know my best buddy Hide would love these products seeing as though he's even more of a stan for handmade products than I am. 

Anyway, Draught Dry Goods specializes in not only leather goods but also finely crafted canvas bags, satchels and the like!  Their camera straps, wallets and phone holders are what really caught my eye though.  The prices are reasonable also, for under $100 you can get a pretty dope wallet or phone case! Cloud 10 Status: Louis Vuitton iPad Cases

Damn yall remember I went IN on the iPad aka the iTampax back when Steve Jobs unveiled it (HERE) and I brushed the iPad aside as another useless invention that was pretty much a glorified iPod that you could see Kindle books better on and you could run a couple Apple apps.  Anyway between the constant barrage of iPad cases and the exclusivity of them I am starting to crumble under the weight of the Apple advertising machine. 

I am here today to state unequivocally that I WANT AN iPad...don't you dare judge me.  I'm still allowed to change my mind right?  Anyway Louis Vuitton has created some handsome iPad cases that are supposed to retail for around...DRUM ROLL PLEASE...$280!




Now if you know Louis Vuitton and their head spinning prices this is definitely a bargain if I ever saw one.  Anyway someone buy me an iPad for Christmas please with the case.   The LV print along with the Damier graphite are available or will be soon.

I don't know why but when I picked up my copy of today's Metro onmy commute to work and I saw the title "Kenya Hunt covers the surprising rise of fish leather." I was intrigued.  I tried and tried to look in the Metro but it turns out Kenya's story is in the form of a blog online.  So I decided to do my own research and discovered that there indeed is a growing field of products made out of the skin of all types of fish (freshwater, saltwater, Northern, Southern)



So how is fish leather made?  According to Sea Leather Wear "The tanning process for fish leather takes about a month, because every fish is different - saltwater, freshwater, northern, southern, and every one has a different oil content. None of these fish are on the endangered species list. 

The fish skins are purchased from commercial fisheries and shipped frozen in 80 to 100 pound boxes. The secret is in the combination of chemicals that are used to remove all the fish oils so that there is no odor. Through an intricate 30-day chemical and mechanical process, the skins are churned, soaked, fleshed and vacuum dried. Timing is critical in the chemical soaking stage. If soaked too long, it will lose its strength and eventually fall apart. The flesher removes any "yuck" left on the back of the skin. The special tanning process prevents the fish leather from becoming stiff, once all the oils are taken out."

Hmmm very interesting indeed, still surprising that they could even achieve that as fish skin is very thin but more power to them.  Here are some sample pieces!  They even have a suede style fish skin leather!!
