Kanye West in Shawl-Collar Tuxedo Jacket, Balmain Jeans, and Stubbs & Wootton Slippers

Kanye West attended the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards where he had the privilege of of presenting Céline designer and creative director Phoebe Philo with the International Award. For the event he kept it simple and clean wearing a shawl collared cream tuxedo jacket, Balmain jeans ($890), and a pair of Stubbs & Wootton slippers ($425). For the after party Mr. West livened up his look by adding a Chicago Bulls snapback hat.

Balmain to launch more affordable line

Looks as if new creative head Olivier Rousteing was only the beginning of a series of big changes at the French fashion house.
Thanks to a new licensing deal with Italian company Ittierre, a more accessibly priced ready-to-wear range is in the works.
The new line will consist of both men’s and women’s clothes under the name of Pierre Balmain, and while it will be produced by a separate design team, the creations will have to be approved by Rousteing.


The official launch is expected in September, possibly during New York fashion week.
Balmain had recently come under a lot of criticism, due to “absurd” pricing, with a $1,625 ripped cotton t-shirt provoking particular protest.

Joe Jonas in Balmain Silver Sleeve Leather Bomber Jacket

Joe Jonas hosted a Billboard Music Awards pre-party at TAO Nightclub wearing a Balmain black leather bomber jacket ($5,370), one of my favorites from the Spring/Summer 2011 Collection . It’s detailed with silver arm sleeves with zipper detailing, snap button closure, and slit pockets with a military style patch logo embroidered on the chest. What do you think of his look?

Jay-Z Performs in Balmain Leather Punk Jacket at 2011 Adult Swim Upfront

Jay-Z performed at the 2011 Adult Swim Upfront at Roseland Ballroom in New York City styled in Balmain leather punk jacket ($5,107). Also in attendance and pictured below are  Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams in a BBC Wolfman Jacket, rapper Fabolous wearing a Louis Vuitton sweatsuit/t-shirt/sneakers and Swizz Beatz wearing a green quilted leather biker jacket and rocking a Reebok x Basquiat t-shirt.
