There was always something fascinating about Kansas native (Atlanta transplant) Janelle Monae. I can't put my finger on it exactly but every time I see her I have to pause to just admire her man. Maybe its her voice, or the way she commands a stage or her androgynous yet feminine and beautiful style. A lot of people say she's too ecclectic and she's boring in just black and white tuxedos all the time. But I think it makes her stand out and memorable. Anyway here's a quick clip where she discusses her style and some of her influences. After watching this video it definitely makes sense.
