Been busy since yesterday as we brought baby Ash in The Medical City to find out what’s the cause of this high fever in the afternoon and at night. We are so worried that there might be some kind of viral infection going on inside his body and we are not sure of it and we let the doctors find it out after doing some test. I declare that I’ll go absent in attending all activities this week, and that includes some events and PFW 2011. (more story below)

The 1st day visit to the hospital is tiring already because we waited for the blood and urine test for half a day, we encountered some problems that Ash is having a hard time in the morning to urinate while wearing that wee bag inside his diapers, but after a successful attempt we got it right and rewarded us a wet bed inside the pediatrics ER room.

According to the blood test, they noticed that Ash’s white blood cells has this 25 counts and its higher than the normal count of 10, all cells are normal and also the urine test, so we found out that it is not about dengue or UTI. But then the attending doctor prescribed us some paracetamol for Ash’s high fever and advices that we should do another blood test tomorrow and get an advice from Ash’s own pediatrician.

After doing the blood test again for the 2nd day on the 2nd day, Ash’s pediatrician told us the same result like on the 1st day, we are now worried because we can’t find the main focus of the high fever and it could be about an infection happening inside the body that we can’t detect, so the doctor advised to get an X-ray to check for pneumonia and another test for blood and urine to have it cultured and observe if there are any infection forming. My wife decided that we confine Ash for 3 days, based on the recommendation of the doctor, so I’m getting worried again (sympre with all the expenses coming in again) but its okay, because it will be for Ash’s health and for not worrying anymore because TMC is a good hospital and we are very comfortable with them.

I got teary eyes when they inserted that IV to Ash’s hand and then on his right foot. It was a painful feeling for Ash and I can see how he reacted and asking already to stop, but we need to hold on to him and help the doctor get the right vein and then after a few tries…they got it right on Ash’s foot. After the session, I went back home and let my wife and my sister in law take care of Ash in the pediatrics room. Then after arriving home my wife told me that Ash is sleeping and the fever is gone.
